The Aledo High School Bearcat Regiment consists of winds, percussion, colorguard, and jv dance. Every member of the band program participates in the marching band production and spirit show. The Bearcat Regiment has advanced to the UIL State Marching Contest eight times and has been a consistent Bands of America Class Champion over the last decade. Because of our successful 11X State Champions football program, the Regiment has performed 398 half-time performances and 93 play-off games since 1993. It is rare that we hang up our marching uniforms before December.

Aledo High School Concert Bands

The Aledo Concert Bands have consistently earned sweepstakes since 1993 including sub-non varsity, non-varsity, and varsity bands. Together they have earned over one hundred UIL Sweepstakes. The concert band students meet daily during the instructional school day as well as before and after school. Students participate in all individual TMEA/UIL activities throughout the school year to further develop the individual musician. Several ensemble members participate in the Fort Worth and Dallas Youth Orchestra and other musical activities.

Aledo High School’s award-winning feeder programs include McAnally Middle School and Aledo Middle School. Homogeneous classes start in the 6th grade. Following their beginning year, seventh and eighth graders are in ability-based band classes. Emphasis on individual skills continue as well as developing strong ensemble skills at both middle schools.

Aledo Percussion Program

The Aledo Percussion Program is under the direction of Scott Stephens and includes grades 6-12. Students participate in chamber ensembles, solo performances, concert band, jazz band and marching band. Recent achievements of the program have included winning the 2014 Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble Competition, placing first in Black Swamp Percussion’s 2014 ensemble competition, and winning various drumline contests in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Aledo Jazz Program

The high school has three jazz bands which includes grades 9-12. Jazz 1 meets every day during the school day, while Jazz 2 and 3 meets twice a week after the football season has concluded. Jake Albin, assistant high school band director was a charter member of the ’93 jazz band and now oversees the jazz curriculum for the district. These groups are consistent division one ensembles and enjoy community concerts and festivals all over Texas. Each year the boosters host our annual Swing Dance where our jazz bands showcase a variety of musical genres; including, swing, bebop, latin, funk, blues, rock and more.
