- Founded: 1978 as the Western Canada Chapter of Phi Beta Mu by Keith Mann who had become an International Honourary Member of Phi Beta Mu in 1977

Annual Business Meeting:
- Held during the Alberta Music Conference each year
- Takes the format of a dinner meeting and is a prelude to the Alberta Honour Band Concert
- A second meeting is scheduled annually [fraternity BBQ/social] in June

Current Projects:
- Mu Alpha awards a scholarship annually to an Albertan youth to attend the Canadian National Youth Band
- Mu Alpha donates annually to MusiCamp Alberta
Item of note:
- In 1998 Brother Keith Mann became the first International President of Phi Beta Mu from outside the boundaries of the USA. Unfortunately, Keith passed away in 2000 after a motor vehicle accident on his way to band practice.
